THE Malvern Cube community centre has a new kitchen, thanks to the generosity and hard work of Malvern's Rotarians.

The kitchen at the centre in Albert Road North is for the use of the Crime Recovery Initiative, which supports people in recovery from addictions.

Malvern Rotary president, Roger Watson, has made CRI his cause for the year, and Rotary decided to back the kitchen project.

As well as paying for the rent of the room used by the group, Rotary paid about £3,000 for the kitchen, which will be used to trains CRI's clients in self-sufficient skills.

Michael Barraclough of Rotary said: "Certain aspects of the work required the use of qualified fitters, for instance for electrical installation work, but the other work, including decoration and the complete installation, was carried out by Rotary volunteers under the leadership of Rotarian Peter Lucas."

Other groups who use Malvern Cube throughout the week will also benefit from access to this kitchen, such as the TRIBE youth club who will be able to use the kitchen to work on cooking skills with young people.
