A woman returning for a stroll on her beloved Malvern Hills was horrified when she found car had been ransacked.,

Helen Stallard's Renault was parked while she walked along Black Hill, but when she returned she found the back window smashed and a host of belongings missing.

Her handbag was taken, containing an expensive Louis Vuitton purse, two pairs of glasses and a pair of house keys, along with £6 in cash.

It is estimated it will cost around £900 to repair the damage and replace the stolen items after Miss Stallard returned to the Malvern area from Birmingham, where she has lived for the past year.

The 34 year-old former Hanley Castle student said: "I love coming back here, especially to walk along the Malverns as I loved them as a kid.

"When myself and my boyfriend returned to the car, I was totally shocked at what had happened.

"I always felt safe in Malvern and Upton and never had a problem while I lived here, so to have this happen just totally shocked me.

"Although it's a lot of money, I'm not really bothered about the financial side of things, it's more the thought of someone doing this and going through my car, it's horrible.

"What makes it more shocking is that it happened in the middle of the afternoon, when it was busy up there. They obviously didn't care about that."

Police confirmed the theft happened in Jubilee Drive, on Sunday, October 26, between 3and 4pm.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 478 of October 26.

Miss Stallard, originally from Upton, says she feels the thieves must have watched her before striking.

"I think they must have seen me put my bag in the boot and waited until we left for our walk to get in there, else how else would they know?

"It seems they have used a screwdriver to wedge the window open rather than just smashing it with a rock. This is quieter, so they knew what they were doing.

"The loss of my glasses has affected my work too, as I spend a long time looking at computer screens in my PR job and am struggling to do so without, plus, it takes a while to sort out replacement s" she said.

Despite this theft, she says it will not deter her from continuing to visit the Malvern Hills.

She said: "It's just one of those things I guess, it's horrible and very annoying, but it won't stop me coming back here.

"I actually feel sorry for the people who did this. If you have to do these kinds of things just to survive, you've clearly made a lot of mistakes in your life."
