DAVID Dennis Racing staged its first open day last weekend, and it has been hailed a success.

Around 750 people attended the event in Hanley Swan's Tyre Hill Stables, and indulged in tours of the gallops, trailer and tractor rides, pork bap lunches, cakes and a bouncy castle for the children.

David Dennis, who owns the stables and has more than ten years competitive riding experience, said: "It was a great day, as it was the culmination of months of hard work getting the yard up to par and pulling together to make it an enjoyable day for everyone, and to showcase our work in the best way we could.

"We were delighted with the weather especially with so many people turning out to support us.

"We’ve also had some strong interest in a number of our horses, which for me, is the ultimate measure that the day was a success.”

The event went ahead on Sunday, September 14, and Mr Dennis says he is considering hosting a similar event next year.
