TWO policemen from Malvern got a soaking when they took part in the Ice Bucket Challenge, the latest charity craze.

PCs Dave Wise and Steve Freeman did the charity challenge in style, with the icy water dropped on them from a height of 30 feet by a large tractor.

The vehicle, a telescopic handler, was lent free of charge by Discovery Tool and Plant Hire, Leominster.

PC Wise said: "I had been challenged, like most people, by several friends, as had Steve, and we wanted to do our bit for raising funds and awareness about amyotrophic lateral sclerosis."

After undergoing the icy ordeal, the pair passed on the challenge to Malvern mayor Julian Roskams, who swiftly responded by dousing himself with cold water.

They have also nominated the Malvern fire crew and Dave Throup of the Environment Agency.

"We've had a great reaction from the public," said PC Wise.

"Most people we've bumped into over the last few days have mentioned it and we're glad to see the mayor has already had a soaking after our nomination.

"We're just waiting for the Malvern fire team".
