AN INTREPID Worcester cyclist has set off on a 1,000-mile cycling challenge to raise cash for a charity researching cures for a condition which kills about a thousand people every year.

Steve Oates along with brother Lee Wardle and friend Roy Grimes set off from Lands End last week and are planning to reach John O’Groats on Saturday, August 16.

The trio are raising cash for SUDEP Action, which is researching a cure into Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy, which Roy’s brother Nathan died of in 2006, and supporting bereaved families.

The group were hoping to raise £1,000 for the charity but have already smashed this target, with donations currently standing at £1,128.92 and counting.
