TWO people have been found dead inside a property in Pow Green, between Bosbury and Cradley with gunshot wounds.
Officers were called to the address at around 10.20am on Monday following reports of a shooting.
After arriving at the scene, officers discovered the bodies of two people.
The victims have been named locally as John Knott, aged 71, and his wife Elizabeth Anne, aged 70.
Post mortems conducted by a Home Office pathologist, which also occurred yesterday, found they each died of a single shotgun wound.
Detective Inspector Richard Rees of Herefordshire CID said: “Police visited the Knott’s home on Monday after concerns were raised by their relatives. Sadly, a search of the property found them both deceased. They each had a single shotgun wound, which the post mortems have now confirmed were the cause of death.
“A shotgun registered to Mr Knott was recovered at the scene.
“At this stage of our investigation there is no evidence of any third part involvement and we can confirm we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the shootings. Our thoughts and condolences are with the family at this time.
“We would like to speak to anyone who saw Anne and John Knott prior to Monday (11 August). At present, the last confirmed sighting was around midday on Saturday (9 August) and if anybody has had contact with them in recent days, we urge them to come forward.”
Herefordshire CID can be contacted on 101 quoting the reference number 113s 11/08/14.
The Rev Nicky Seabright, the vicar of Bosbury, paid tribute to the couple.
Rev Seabright said: “The community in Bosbury is deeply shocked by the death of this couple as they were well known locally, not least as plant growers and supporters of many events in the village.
"We are obviously really sorry and full of sadness about what has happened and the family are very much in our prayers. As a community we will need to come together and support each other. The church is always open for those who would like some space for reflection and I am encouraging local people to drop in at any time if they want to.”
