PEOPLE in Worcestershire are being encouraged to get involved with a national fundraising campaign raising cash for cancer research.
This year’s Stand Up to Cancer campaign will include a range of events across the country culminating in a live fundraiser on Channel 4 on Friday, October 17 presented by Davina McCall, Alan Carr and Dr Christian Jessen.
The campaign is being run jointly by Channel 4 and Cancer Research UK, who are inviting people across the country to arrange their own fundraising events.
The organisations have also arranged joint March on Cancer events, which will take place simultaneously in 15 cities around the UK including Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff on Saturday, October 11.
Cancer Research UK’s spokesperson for Hereford and Worcestershire Jane Redman said: “Thanks to the incredible progress that’s been made in the last 40 years, more people are surviving cancer than ever before.
“This is the first year we are holding our new March On Cancer events, which are open to everyone - adults and children.
“March On Cancer is a defiant show of force, with tens of thousands of people across the UK, all marching through the streets and making their voices heard.
“We are asking everyone to start their fundraising ahead of the March and continue after, to help us beat cancer sooner.”
The campaign took place for the first time in 2012, when it raised more than £8 million.
