A WATER main has burst near the junction of Hylton Road and Henwick Road in Worcester.

Officials from the police, Severn Trent Water and the county highways authority are currently on site and the road could be closed while work to fix the leak is carried out.

UPDATE 11.45am.

The highways authority has just confirmed that Hylton Road will be closed while the repair work is carried out.

The road will be closed between its junctions with Henwick Road and Tybridge Street, and traffic will be diverted via Henwick Road and St Johns.

It is not yet known how long the repair work will take.

UPDATE 1pm.

Highway authorities says closure is imminent. Access will be allowed from Tybridge Street to premises alomg Hylton Road. 

UPDATE 2.50pm.

Severn Trent says there will be no need to close the road. Three-way lights will be set up at the Hylton Road/Henwick Road junction while the work to repair the burst water main is carried out.
