A WOMAN had to be rescued from the River Avon this afternoon (Tuesday).
One ambulance and four fire engines were called to the Main Road in Wyre Piddle near the river, to reports of a woman stuck in the water at around 3.15pm.
When they arrived the woman had already been helped out of the water by a member of the public.
She was checked over but did not require hospital treatment.
