COUNTRYSIDE crime fighters are being urged to enter awards rewarding people for cracking down on rural law breakers.
The Country Crime Fighters Awards 2014 will award crime fighters and people in Worcestershire are being encouraged to enter by the NFU Mutual, the UK’s leading rural insurer.
The company is expected to release its latest rural crime statistics this summer but last year, the insurer revealed rural crime in Worcestershire totalled more than £400,000, while the UK-wide cost of so called agri-crime was an estimated £42.3 million in 2012.
With a cash fund of up to £1,500 available, the awards will help to recognise and celebrate unsung rural heroes by providing them with financial and practical support to help fund anti-crime initiatives.
Richard Percy, chairman of NFU Mutual and judge, said: “As part of the fabric of country life, we have a responsibility to offer continued support to rural communities in their ongoing fight against crime. I cannot wait to start uncovering more of the UK’s unsung rural heroes.”
To enter visit nfumutual.co.uk/crimefighters and tell the insurer in 300 words or less why your community group deserves to win an award and how they have helped to reduce crime in the local area. Entries close August 11.
