MORE than 170 vintage vehicles will display history in motion.

The annual Festival of Transport motors into Worcestershire County Museum at Hartlebury Castle on Sunday, July 13, with the original Volvo P1800 from the 1960s television series The Saint, starring Roger Moore, taking centre stage.

The famous car, often referred to as ST 1, has been lovingly restored by owner Kevin Price of Bewdley.

Cars, bicycles and motorbikes from years gone by will feature alongside tractors, stationary engines and commercial vehicles from 11am to 5pm.

Pippa Ashmore, museum events officer, said: “This event has proved to be one of the most colourful and popular in the County Museum's events calendar and we're looking forward to hosting it again with over 170 vehicles this year including the car from The Saint."

In addition to the vintage vehicles visitors will also be treated to a gift and craft fair in the castle's State Rooms.

There will also be a chance to explore the museum's transport collection which includes a variety of Gypsy caravans and other horse-drawn vehicles, a fire-engine, hearse, ambulance and a 'Castle 3', a unique three-wheeled car built in Kidderminster in the 1920s.

The museum's temporary exhibition, entitled Hoards, Handbags and Highwaymen, looking at the theme of money will also be open.

Admission to the event and museum is £5 for adults, £2.50 for concessions and £13 for a family ticket (two adults and two children).
