New website to report Worcestershire road issues

A NEW system has been launched that will make it easier for people to report issues with highways in Worcestershire.

The online system by Worcestershire County Council will allow Worcester residents and businesses to tell the council about potholes and a host of other issues on the roads in the county.

The upgraded 'Report It' facility now lets people to log on from a home pc and mobile devices, including smart phones, tablets and laptops, and pinpoint the exact location of the problem on an interactive map. From there, engineers can investigate and remedy the issue quicker than before.

Users can also be kept up to date on the progress of the repair they reported through email.

People can also report drainage or flooding issues, problems on pavements, mud or oil on the highway, faulty street lights, and traffic light problems.

Councillor John Smith OBE, county council cabinet member for highways, said members of the public had already got in touch through other online channels to fix road issues but this improved service would make it easier and quicker.

He said: "This is great as it allows our teams to get out there and fix issues quickly.

"We want to make things even easier and update those residents in Worcester who take the time to log problems, which is why this new and much improved 'Report It' system has been developed.

"It's now much simpler and quicker to report a host of issues. I'd encourage anyone that spots something to log on through their laptops, tablets or SmartPhones, to let us know. We'll keep you updated on the progress."

If we can report problems more easily and quickly, does this mean that the problems will be dealt with more quickly, or will the same lethargy and inactivity ensue?

This isn't new! I reported some potholes online three months ago. They don't contact you with updates - you have to keep checking to see what's happening. In this case - nothing! Potholes still there and this is what it says against my complaint: "Closed by Service Area: Your request has been reviewed and an appropriate action taken by the service delivery area." Which means what? Answers on a postcard...
