PEOPLE will be pulling on their trainers for a walk around Spetchley Park in a joint effort to raise funds and awareness for an arthritis charity.

Members of the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) are hoping that more people will sign up to their charity event The RAmble on Saturday.

Family members can sign up for a one mile, five mile or wheelchair friendly route through the Victorian garden.

Dogs on leads can also join in the fun on the one and five mile routes.

Donna Saunders, NRAS Worcester branch co-ordinator, said she hoped more people would join them for the walk.

The mum-of-two from Northwick, Worcester, said: "Please help to raise awareness of this misunderstood disease and join us for a walk in beautiful surroundings."

The RAmble hopes to tackle the stigma that it is older people who suffer with rheumatoid arthritis after years of wear and tear.

It is in fact a chronic, progressive and disabling auto-immune disease where the immune system attacks the joint tissue, causing inflammation, stiffness, pain and extreme fatigue.

If left untreated, the joints can lose shape and alignment and lead to permanent disability.

In some cases, RA can also affect internal organs such as the lungs, heart and eyes.

Registration begins at 10am and the event starts at 11am.

Entry fee for all walks costs £10 adults including goody bag and children under 13 free.

To enter, log on to www.nras.org.uk/RAmble, call 01628 501547 or just turn up on the day.
