AN EVESHAM man faces jail if he breaches a criminal anti-social behaviour order after a string of offences including drink driving and punching a police officer in the face.

Daniel Parmenter, aged 23, of Fairfield Road, Evesham, is now subject to a criminal anti-social behaviour order or 'Crasbo', imposed on Thursday which bans him from getting behind the wheel of a car among other conditions.

The Crasbo was introduced after Parmenter was sentenced for two public order offences, driving with excess alcohol, two common assaults, criminal damage, assaulting a police officer and resisting a police officer.

The incidents happened last December when Parmenter had been drinking and reversed his car into another vehicle. When the other motorist tried to get his details and said he was going to call police, Parmenter became aggressive and threatening. He ran off from the police several times, and when caught pulled an officer to the floor and struck him to the face.

Parmenter, who admitted the offences, was jailed for 18 weeks and was banned from driving for almost two years.

The Crasbo lasts for two years and prevents Parmenter from using foul, abusive or racist language or words; using aggressive, threatening or intimidating behaviour; driving, riding or operating any motorised vehicle in the area of St Richards Road, Evesham, which is known as the Muddies; and driving a motorised vehicle in a manner that causes or is likely to cause any person alarm, harassment or distress.

Sergeant Phil Stayte of West Mercia Police said: “Parmenter had been recorded as having been involved in 20 incidents of anti-social behaviour since 2007 including racing cars and motorbikes, and causing nuisance with mini motos. There have also been incidents of throwing missiles, shouting and swearing, inappropriate use of fireworks and spitting.

“Attempts at diverting him away from further anti-social behaviour have failed, and following his release from prison, he went on to commit a further public order offence for which he was fined.

“Residents of the area in question should not have to put up with the nuisance he causes.

“We welcome the Crasbo as it gives us the power to immediately arrest him if he breaches it, and enables means he could be jailed for up to five years.”
