SHOPPERS at a busy supermarket were tickled pink in the name of charity.

Tesco gave their St Peter's branch a colourful makeover for a pink themed day in aid of Cancer Research UK on Saturday, with the hope of raising awareness and more than £500 in donated funds.

More than 100 members of staff turned the aisles into a sea of pink as they wore pink clothing, ate pink food in the staff room and sold pink rolls fresh from the bakery.

Joanne Pitt, services manager at Tesco St Peter's, said: "Everybody has got into the spirit of it and dressed up in pink. We even one lady dress as a lovely pink princess for all the children.

"We would really, really like to raise over £500, which would be fantastic."

The day also promoted the charity's Race For Life event which will take place at Pitchcroft on Sunday, July 6.
