AN elderly woman was cut free from her car and airlifted to hospital after crashing into a tree.
The incident in Corbett Avenue, Droitwich, happened at about 12.45pm today (Friday) and the woman, who was in her 80s, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham by the Midlands Air Ambulance which landed in the grounds of Chateau Impney Hotel.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The Chateau grounds was the nearest location for the landing of the air ambulance and an attending fire officer then took the aircrew by road to the scene of the collision.
“A woman in her eighties who was driving the car had back pain. The fire service cut the roof off the car.
She was immobilised by ambulance personnel, then taken by one of the two attending land ambulances to the air ambulance which flew her to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
“Her husband who was a passenger in the car had no visible injuries, but was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital as a precaution.”
