FIVE more people have been charged in connection to drugs supplied from a Malvern crack house yards from a primary school.

Tyrone Clarke-Carruthers, 27, Robert Vindal, 19, Ikhlaq Jahangir, 18, all of Birmingham and Adam Nugent, 41, and Robert Horne, 40, both of Malvern have all been charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs and allowing a premises to be used (95 Pickersleigh Grove in Malvern) for drugs.

The Festival Housing owned premises, just yards away from a school, was closed last December using a section one Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003 closure order. The defendants were scheduled to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates Court today.

The charges are the conclusion of a seven month investigation conducted by detective constable Jez Hazlewood of the Proactive CID of department of South Worcestershire.

He said: “Illegal drugs supply and misuse have a big impact on our neighbourhoods due to the acquisitive crime, such as burglary and theft, which often goes hand in hand with it.
“Breaking the cycle of supply and demand by taking out the dealers is one key component of our drugs strategy designed to combat this.
“Those involved in such offences can be sure that there will be no let-up in our war on drugs and, as today’s charges illustrate, anyone caught is likely to lose their liberty.”

We reported last December how it was the first such closure of a crack house in the Malvern Hills district after a warrant was executed at the ground floor flat in Pickersleigh Grove, near Grove Primary School and Nursery.

Police first had to apply to a magistrates court and provide evidence of criminal activity and the affect it is having on the community.
Malvern Cops tweeted: "We have been supported by @FortisLiving who have secured a permanent eviction of the tenant since the closure order." They also said that the charges showed that the closure of the crack house was not the end of their work.
