Spate of car thefts in Droitwich
10:19am Tuesday 13th May 2014 in News
POLICE are warning car owners to be vigilant after a spate of break-ins and thefts in Droitwich over the last two weeks.
Sgt Sarah Kent, safer neighbourhood team sergeant for Droitwich and Pershore, said cars had both been broken into or entered after being left insecure during a series of thefts, many in the east of Droitwich, including three or four overnight last night (Monday night into Tuesday morning).
Items taken include sat navs, laptops, a handbag and designer sunglasses. Sgt Kent says it is possible that the thief or thieves are using a push bike to get around. She urged car owners to take valuables out of their cars and make sure their vehicles are secure overnight. Sgt Kent also said some key fobs were particularly sensitive, unlocking cars accidentally while in someone's pocket or bag while they were inside the house.
Sgt Kent said: "We are putting out extra patrols overnight across Droitwich but we would ask members of the public to be our eyes and ears."
If you spot anything suspicious contact the police on their non-emergency number 101 although, if they see a crime in progress, they should call 999.
