TICKETS for the Bromyard Gala at its new site are selling fast and organisers are reminding exhibitors and vehicle enthusiasts to sign up now to guarantee a place.

Now in its 44th year, the Gala has moved to a new site just half a mile from its previous home after a massive reorganisation which overcame doubts about its future.

The 2014 event takes place on Saturday, July 5 and Sunday, July 6, and there is also a programme of pre-Gala events throughout the preceding week.

Ahead of the event itself, organisers have for the first time ever added a 1940's Street Fair in Bromyard's streets on Sunday, June 26.

Entertainment will include the Round the Downs foot-race, a car boot sale, a dog show, and junior football, and in the days leading up to the Gala there will be a quiz, auto-testing, and the much-loved donkey derby.

Gala chairman Steve Matthews said: "The Gala itself will have a full show with all the usual events and sections including the Bandstand and Fair as well as trade exhibitors, the History Society and Bromyard Traders' marquees, the Steam Engines and Vintage Cars.

"The new site is the same huge size as the previous one, but is level and has few trees, making space for even more attractions and displays.

"Because of initial doubts last autumn about the Gala's future, some exhibitors have held back from signing up for this year's event, but now's the time."

The new Gala Field is at The Burgess Farm, Avenbury, on the B4214 Munderfield, just off the A465 Bromyard to Hereford road. For details, visit bromyardgala.org.uk.
