ITEMS from a large country house near Pershore are going under the hammer in a two-day sale at Prinknash Abbey Park.

People will be able to get their hands on the principal contents of The Court House, in Birlingham, in the Chorley’s sale on Thursday, May 22 and Friday, May 23,

With the space to create room settings at Prinknash, Chorley’s will hang the chandeliers and lay out the antique furniture removed from The Court House.

Items for sale include a 'Boulle' cabinet finely inlaid with tortoiseshell, an imposing desk and portraits, glass and ceramic items along with Oriental works of art.

Simon Chorley, of Chorley's, said: "The house was bought many years ago and furnished almost entirely through acquisitions from auctions and the antiques trade.

"Now many of these lots are appearing on the open market again."

A distinguished Welsh family’s collection is also to be included in Chorley’s May sale and offers a wide range of paintings, furniture and works of art.

Viewing days are taking place on Sunday, May 18 from10amto 4pm, Monday, May 19 from 9amto 5pm,

Tuesday, May 20 from 9am to 7pm and Wednesday, May 21 from 9am to 5pm.
