THE ambulance service were called to over 100 more incidents in Worcestershire over the latest Bank Holiday weekend than the previous weekend in April.
West Midlands Ambulance Service attended 683 emergency calls, more than 20 per cent more calls between Saturday and Monday, May 3 to 5, compared to 563 over the same timespan seven days earlier (April 26-28).
All in all they received 754 calls.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We put a huge amount of work into making sure we had enough frontline staff on duty to deal with the expected rise in call levels.
"While many people were enjoying the three day break, our staff were working hard to provide patients that needed our help with the highest standards of clinical care in often difficult situations."
The busiest day faced by the service was Sunday, May 4, when they received 268 calls and 236 incidents.
