RESIDENTS of Hanley Castle are being asked for their views on proposals to create a neighbourhood plan for the parish.

Neighbourhood plans are part of the government’s localism agenda, to give local people more of a say on issues like where new homes should be built and the design of new developments.

Hanley Castle Parish Council has applied to Malvern Hills District Council to designate the parish as a neighbourhood area.

And today (Friday, May 2) a six-week public consultation starts to let residents have their say.

Bob Lamb, chairman of Hanley Castle Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, said: “A neighbourhood plan will help shape the future of Hanley Castle and Hanley Swan through a community-led approach, promoting innovation and engendering a strong sense of place, making Hanley Castle Parish and attractive place to live, work and holiday in.”

For further information and for detailed maps of the proposed neighbourhood areas please visit malvernhills.gov.uk or contact David Clarke on 01684 862370. The consultation runs until Friday, June 13.
