THE search is on for volunteers to bring alive one of Worcester’s most historic locations.

Tudor House Museum in the city’s famous Friar Street is on the lookout for people of all ages to help run the charity-funded venue.

These include roles as costumed interpreters telling visitors about the 550-year old building that was once a notorious pub and is reputed to be haunted by three ghostly nuns.

The museum has recently seen an upsurge in visitors, with an extended programme of events and longer opening hours.

Volunteers are also needed to help run the coffee-shop and to help digitise the museum's collection of nearly 8,000 archive images of Worcester.

The museum is running two open days next week when people with an interest in local history can find out more.

Curator-manager Elizabeth Pimblett said: “No special knowledge is required, just an interest in history and a keenness to share it with visitors, There’s so much history here and we’re keen to find like-minded people to help us make it come alive."

The open days are on Wednesday and Saturday, May 7 and 10, between 10am and 4pm. To find out more, contact manager@tudorhouse.org.uk.
