Malvern mayor takes to the saddle in aid of special families.

MALVERN mayor Julian Roskams will be taking to the saddle on Bank Holiday Monday for a challenging 100-mile cycle ride.

THE Mayor of Malvern's Mad Cycling Event will see cllr Roskams joined by council colleagues, staff and friends for the ride.

The event will raise funds for Malvern Special Families, the mayoral charity, to encourage children and young people with disabilities to develop in a safe environment.

The team will be starting out from Victoria Park in Malvern Link at about 8.30am and aim to go twice around a 50-mile circuit, taking in Ledbury, Eastnor and West Malvern.

Cllr Roskams said: "We're hoping for dry weather, but not too hot, because it will be quite a challenge."

The Malvern Splash leisure pool is sponsoring the challenge by providing tee-shirts.
