ANOTHER 40 volunteers are needed to help an Acorns Children's Hospice fundraiser run smoothly on Sunday, June 22.

Organisers of the Triple Run held at Three Counties Showground, Malvern are calling for volunteers to help set up the event, registration, manning the water stations and welcoming runners across the finish line.

Runners can choose from three courses – a 1km Fun Run, a 5km Woodland Trail or the Malvern Half Marathon and people of all ages and abilities the chance to take part.

Acorns, which has a hospice on Bath Road, Worcester, will use the money raised from the event to provide care for children with life limiting and life threatening conditions, and their families.

Shujea Khatun, Acorns major events officer, said: “You don’t have to take part in the run to enjoy the day.

"You can show your support by volunteering at one of our biggest fundraising events of the year.

"So far 60 people have signed up to help but we need another 40.

“It costs £750 a day to care for each child at our hospices and the majority of the money needed to run these services comes from fundraising activities and donations.

"Events like the Triple Run raise vital funds to allow Acorns to continue its essential work."

The 1km Fun Run is aimed at children and adults with special needs, but all fundraisers are welcome to take part.

Participants can walk, run or be pushed around the course and it is wheelchair friendly and well marshalled throughout.

The 5km Woodland Trail is a multi-terrain run or walk through woodlands and the Malvern Half Marathon is a predominately flat course through the villages at the foot of the Malvern Hills, promoted by the Worcester Athletic Club.

Registration is open to all ages, but children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a participating adult.

Entry fees vary depending on the chosen course and Acorns encourages all participants to raise as much money as they can in sponsorship.
