BIKING enthusiasts can put their passion to good use this spring by taking part in a charity ride in aid of the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

On Saturday, May 31, cyclists from Worcestershire are being urged to take part in the event, which is being organised by Diglis based technology company Postcode Anywhere.

The event at Norton Parish Hall will involve a four, 15 or 50 mile bike ride option depending on the riders level of cycling ability.

Natalie Green, PR manager at Postcode Anywhere said: "Midlands Air Ambulance is an essential emergency service and you never know when you might need them.

"Two years ago my father was working on a three storey building roof and suffered a heart attack and basically owes his life to the Midlands Air Ambulance crew who rescued him.

"It would have been impossible for a road ambulance team of paramedics or even the fire brigade to access him, lift him to safety and transport him to hospital."

The idea behind the event is to stage a fun day out that will encourage families and friends to pursue some healthy exercise as well as helping to raise money so even those who can't cycle are invited along to enjoy the day.
