THE popular CountryTastic event will return to the Three Counties Showground in Malvern today.

Hundreds of people are expected to come along to the fun filled countryside day out which offers indoor and outdoor activities for all ages.

Food takes centre stage this year and children will have the opportunity to learn to cook with the Easy Peasy Cookery School, bake with the Baker, Mike Wallace and discover where their food comes from.

There will also be the chance to meet farmyard animals and enjoy making and crafts.

Junk Fish will be offering free children's activities and Whalley Pig, a 30 foot long sleep sow, will give children the opportunity to peek at a short show which takes place in her belly!

Popular rural TV presenter and show regular Adam Henson will be on hand to share his knowledge and top tips as a commentator for the Animal Parades throughout the day.

Children can also enjoy some Easter-themed activities at the Church of England’s stand.

Children will be able to make Easter chicks, decorate eggs and create Easter cards and bookmarks in the Church of England’s area. There will also be a chance to see some lambs and chicks and listen to the story of Jesus as ‘The Good Shepherd’.

If all four of the activities on the stand are completed, children will receive a fair-trade chocolate egg, a reminder that many believe that Easter eggs represent the stone that sealed Jesus’ tomb, as well as being symbols of hope and new life.

Emma Pettifer is the children’s officer for the Diocese of Worcester and has helped to organise the Church’s stand.

She said: “Easter is the most important time in the Christian calendar and Countrytastic is a great opportunity to have fun while remembering the bible stories behind our more modern traditions.

"We’ll also have a quiet prayerful corner of our stand, so people can find a little bit of peace in the midst of the busy show.”

CountryTastic takes place between10am and 5pm today.

Tickets cost £6 each with three year olds and under going free.

There's also free parking and under cover activities.
