CADETS will be helping make bikes more secure from theft with a free security making event at Asda in St Martin's Quarter, Worcester.
The South Worcestershire Police Cadet Detachment and the Youth Engagement Team for South Worcestershire will be there on Wednesday , April 16 between 10am and 2pm.
Anyone can bring their bicycle to be security marked. Children will have a wrap around security label and youth/adult bikes or high value bikes will have the opportunity to have a "Retainaguard" security marking kit which is an easy to apply UV marking fluid and the owners details will be registered with a unique code.
PC Tina Cowan at the youth engagement team (South Worcestershire) for West Mercia Police said: "We are only able to give the packs away for free if the bike is marked and registered at the the event. The packs normally retail at about £10 from Retainaguard.
"This event is a timely reminder to security mark your belongings and keep bikes locked and secure when not in use. Now that the lighter nights are upon us, people are using their bikes more for commuting and pleasure.
"This event is being held in partnership with Safer Worcester and with thanks to Asda and Harris Lamb Property Consultancy for the use of their premises."
