CONTROVERSIAL plans for housing on land at Poolbrook have been approved by district councillors.

Developer W J Bullock last year submitted two planning applications to build 63 houses on land between the existing Brook Farm Estate and the sewage works off Mill Lane.

The plans differed in the access to the site: one was directly off Mill Lane, while the other was off Charlock Road, part of the housing estate.

The plan with the Mill Lane entry was approved at a meeting on Malvern Hills District Council's southern area planning area in February, but councillors could not come to a decision in the other one, which was subsequently referred to the planning committee.

And when the committee met last Thursday, March 27, members approved the application after a detailed discussion.
