Planners to say no to Callow End house plan

PLANS for two new houses at Callow End, near Malvern, are due to be decided by district councillors next week.

The application, made by Ruth and Bryan Haines and Hilary Roberts, is for a site on Beauchamp Lane in the village.

The application had drawn comments, both pro and anti, from local residents, and Malvern Hills District Council planning officers are recommending refusal.

They say it goes against national guidelines, which discourages development in isolated rural areas. The site and access is also affected by flooding, and the proposal will also have an adverse impact on a nearby listed building.

The plan is on the agenda of the council's northern area development management committee, which meets at the Council Chamber, Avenue Road, Malvern, on Wednesday, April 2, at 6pm.

Is this going to a first, or will those who have the power ignore the flood information. Lets hope permission js refused if only to keeps the land so it acts as natural drainage.

There is a plan to build 62 houses against the border of Wyre Forest District which is in the north of Worcestershire. Astley village has no services so the residents would have to use Stourport for their services. The proposed greenfield site suffers from flooding and lacks good connections to Stourport or Astley but it looks as if it will be approved on Wednesday. The planning system seems to have gone mad.
