Attend open rehearsals for Worcestershire Symphony Orchestra
4:10pm Tuesday 25th March 2014 in News
AN orchestra originally founded by Sir Edward Elgar is looking for new amateur players.
The 60-strong Worcestershire Symphony Orchestra is holding two free open rehearsals on Thursday, April 3 and Thursday, April 10 at St Martin's Church, London Road, Worcester, from 7.30pm.
Anyone is welcome to attend and the orchestra will be rehearsing Stravinsky’s iconic Firebird ballet music, which was written when the composer was only 27. The work is based on a Russian folk tale about a magic glowing bird, that can be both a blessing and a curse to its owner.
Conductor Keith Slade said: “The Firebird is a fantastic work, and is really popular with both players and audiences alike.
"We’re really looking forward to rehearsing it, and to welcoming some new players to the orchestra. It’s a great opportunity to meet other local musicians, in a friendly and informal setting.”
There is no need to pre-book a place at the rehearsals.
