MEMBERS of a riding school saddled up to take part in a pink day for charity.

Riders from Walnut Equestrian Centre at Cowshill Farm in Wheatley Lane, Upton, collected £200 for Cancer Research UK through sponsorship and bakes sales for a pink themed day on Sunday, March 2.

Their event was linked with an annual event in the USA organised by Carrie Stanton, who was taught to ride at the centre and maintains a close relationship with the riding stables, and the local riders are keen to maintain this tradition.

She is now one of the top showjumping grooms in the world, having worked for riders including the Olympic champions Mclain Ward and Bezzie Madden, and has raised about $750,000 for research into cancer treatments.
