A staff member from Worcester Sixth Form College has walked across a bed of burning embers to raise money for Sight Concern.

Lynne Matthews, employment and community links officer at the College, raised £288 by taking part in the firewalk on Friday, February 21.

Mrs Matthews said: “I set myself a personal challenge every year – the firewalk seemed a good one for 2014!

"I had no idea what it would be like, but the experience exceeded all expectations.

"The sense of personal empowerment from conquering the challenge of walking 20 feet across red hot embers was incredible.

"I felt like I could take on the world.”

She chose Sight Concern as her charity as a thank for the organisation's decision to offer work placements and volunteering opportunities to 60 students at the College over the past 18 months.

Principal Michael Kitcatt, said: “Lynne’s enthusiasm and energy are an inspiration to us all and her work with Sight Concern continues to make a huge variety of opportunities available to our students.”

The challenge took place at the Pavilion in the Park bar in Cripplegate Park, Worcester.
