Question time over police plan in West Mercia

First published in News

PEOPLE in Worcester are invited to a live ‘Question Time’ style event at the university to discuss crime and the Criminal Justice System in the local area.

In April 2013, Bill Longmore, West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) introduced the ‘Police and Crime Plan’ for the region. The event, held at the University of Worcester on Friday, March 7, will provide locals with the opportunity to find out about its progress to date.

The Deputy PCC, Barrie Sheldon, will take questions at the event, and he will be joined by a distinguished panel from the Criminal Justice sector, including Chief Superintendent Amanda Blakeman, West Mercia Police, Harry Ireland, chief crown prosecutor, Crown Prosecution Service West Midlands, Philip Kendrick, head of commissioning for West Mercia Youth Offending Service, Les King deputy dead of services, Worcestershire Probation Service, and The Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Pat Agar.

Members of the public are invited to attend and question Mr Sheldon and the panel on issues related to criminal justice, crime and punishment, and policing.

John Ryan MBE, the university's Secretary and Pro Vice Chancellor, will chair the evening, which has been organised by Ruth Jones OBE as part of the work of the National Centre for the Study and Prevention of Violence and Abuse.

The debate will start at 5.30pm in the Cotswold Suite at the University’s St John’s Campus. It's free to attend, and those interested can book a place as an audience member online at worcester.ac.uk/discover/question-time.

All questions can be submitted in advance.

Liberal regulations to free adults, strict laws to protect kids but don't let PARENTNOIA cloud your vision... Don't be petty control freaks or we'll prove your pathetic laws are simply there to be broken.
