A CHOIR'S charity fundraiser has been given a celebrity boost after a chance meeting with Noel Edmonds.

The Deal or No Deal star was enjoying a trip on the Severn Valley Railway when he bumped into Beth Dunn, founder and director of Got 2 Sing, and agreed to help with the choir's latest fundraising event.

He threw the first coins in the collection bucket to kick-start their efforts.

The Got 2 Sing choir will travel the 16-mile length of the Severn Valley Railway with the 100 choristers hopping off at its three main stations to entertain visitors.

The choir hopes to raise as much money as possible for the Stroke Association during the event on Saturday, March 8.

Beth said: "I was absolutely delighted that Noel acknowledged our efforts.

"What better boost could we have for our fundraising?"

The choir's journey will begin at the start of the line in Kidderminster at 10am and they will be singing popular songs such as Amazing Grace and Proud on their way to Highley.

After arriving at 12.15pm they will sing soul and motown classics such as Higher and Higher and Ain't No Mountain High Enough, before reaching the railway's terminus in Bridgnorth at 1.30pm.

Worcester's Got 2 Sing Choir member, Sophie James who is also community and events fundraising manager for the Stroke Association, said: "At the Stroke Association we provide information, advice and support for stroke survivors and their families as well as raising awareness of Stroke and how to reduce the risk factors for this devastating condition.

"We are thrilled Got 2 Sing have chosen to raise funds for us and are so grateful for all donations as they help us to provide that vital support for local people affected by stroke."

Last year, Got 2 Sing raised £65,000 for charities including Singing for the Brain and Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer.
