Nominate your Flood Hero
12:29pm Tuesday 25th February 2014 in News
DO YOU know anyone who deserves to be crowned 'Flood Hero' for their efforts in helping Worcestershire through its 2014 flooding crisis?
Daybreak, ITV's morning television programme, wants to help recognise those who have gone the extra mile by asking the public to nominate people who helped ease the devastation of homes, businesses and communities.
The county has begun its clean up as the river has almost reached it 'normal' level again for the first time since before Christmas but some homes in the likes of Upton and Diglis have been left with damaged homes and possessions.
The deadline for nominating someone is noon on Friday (February 28) and can be anyone from people who co-ordinated the distribution of food and clothing, someone who rescued abandoned pets, or someone who offered shelter.
To nominate, people must be 18 or over and willing to be filmed with their nominee, and the person being nominated must have helped in the flood relief effort of the winter of 2013/14 floods, and must be able to demonstrate why that person has gone the ‘extra mile’ in helping the flood relief effort.
Official organisations or charities cannot be nominated.
For a full list of terms and conditions, and how to submit a nomination, visit itv.com/daybreak/hot-topics/daybreaks-flood-heroes.
From all the nominations received, the Daybreak production team will select, what they consider to be, the 25 best stories. These 25 will then be put to a judging panel consisting of well known personalities, volunteering experts and those who have previously worked in flood relief efforts.
