THE charity YMCA is opening up what it calls a temporary charity shop in the centre of Malvern next week.

The shop will occupy a unit in Church Street that has remained empty since the women's clothes shop Dorothy Perkins closed its doors last summer.

Nicki Elworthy of the YMCA said: "As well as our permanent YMCA shops across England, retail often occupies temporary shop units until landlords find suitable long-term tenants, which is the case for this particular shop in Malvern. Sometimes a shop can occupy a temporary space for three months and sometimes it can be much longer. "

The shop is opening on Wednesday, February 19, and the YMCA is calling for local people to show their support by donating good.

District retail manager James Preece said: “We are really excited to be opening a new temporary YMCA shop in Malvern. We would like to invite local people to come in and visit us as soon as we are open and would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone interested in volunteering or making a donation.”

Anyone interested is urged to contact YMCA England retail team on 0845 601 0728 or just pop in to the shop.
