THE panto season is alive and kicking with an unusual production for the half-term holidays.
Much Marcle Amateur Dramatic Society is back with a performance of Snow White and the Eight Dwarfs, which departs from the original format by adding an extra dwarf to the proceedings from Thursday to Saturday, February 20-22 in Much Marcle Memorial Hall.
The original pantomime was written by one of the society's own cast members, Danielle Bowers, who is also directing and producing the play, as well as playing the part of one of the story’s six baddies.
This year, the cast features more than 20 young people, all with specific parts, which include dwarfs, fairies, wood mymphs, as well as the magic mirror, the prince and his manservant, and the title role of Snow White.
It is the largest number of young people featured in any of the society's pantomimes to date as they mark 20 years since their first show.
A spokesman for the group said: "MADS are very proud to have survived for this long, and we are lucky enough to be going from strength to strength each year. For each new performance we manage to gain a new member willing to have a go at treading the boards."
It will mark the debut of Hennessy Vine, James and Louis Johnson and Lizzie Simpson along with Charlie Weston of Westons Cider fame, who will be playing Muddles the Jester.
Daily performances will be staged at 7.30pm and a 2.30pm matinee on the Saturday.
Tickets are available from Much Marcle Stores on 01531 660201.
