IT may be cold outside but a charity is suggesting people shed some clothing for Valentine's Day.

Acorns Children's Hospice doesn't want people to strip off but is instead urging people across Worcestershire to donate unwanted items of clothing to its shops.

Staff at the shops are seeking clothing to sell to raise funds to care and support local children with life limiting or life threatening conditions and just 60 bags of good quality donated items can raise enough money to cover the £750 cost of caring for a child for one day at an Acorns hospice.

Acorns Children's Hospice head of retail, Kevin Ives, said: “On Valentine’s Day people spend millions of pounds on their ‘someone special’. Of course we’d like people to buy items from our shops this February 14 but we also want people to make donations.

“By offloading unwanted items people can also help make a huge difference to local children and families at our hospices. It’s vital that we keep our shops well-stocked and we urge people to think of us and clear out their wardrobes.

“It costs nothing to drop-off unwanted items at our shops yet it’s an easy way of getting ‘the feel-good factor’ this Valentine’s Day.”

Donations can be brought into the shops during the opening hours of 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday.

The shops are at Court Road, Barnards Green, Malvern; St Andrew's Street, Droitwich; St Peter's the Great Park, Worcester; Old Street, Upton; and Mealcheapen Street, Worcester.
