CHILDREN at the Wyche School in Malvern got to grips with history when they built their own Tudor house in the school hall.

The pupils from Year Six were visited by Charlie Lupton of Malvern-based educational company Make Your Own History, who taught them a variety of skills, including thatch-laying, tile-laying and wattle-and-daub.

And using these and other techniques, the youngsters spent the day building the one-third-scale house.

The school's deputy head and Year Six teacher Jon Westwood said: " The pupils were totally absorbed all day as they learned the building techniques and built the house out of more than 90 components. Although it was one-third-scale, it was very detailed and they enjoyed it and learned a lot."
