LOVE letters, old pictures and war medals have been discovered in a “box of memories” in a Worcester attic.

The treasures unearthed include faded photos, uniforms and even a marriage certificate - but the couple who found them say they have no idea how to reunite them with their owners.

The documents date from the 1920s to 1960s and are mostly connected to a man called Rhys Lane who married a woman called Evelyn Ralph.

Letters and postcards reveal their links to addresses across the city in London Road, Drake Avenue and Rainbow Hill.

However, the suitcase they were found in was discovered in an attic in Buttermere Drive, Warndon, at the home of Chris Bellasario and Emma Pick.

Mr Bellasario said: “There is so much stuff and all of it is really quite personal.

“There are a lot of memories there.

“There are love letters sent from Germany during the war and that kind of thing.

“It all relates to the same gentleman.

“He did get married because his marriage certificate and pictures of his wedding are in there from the 1940s.

“Some things go back to 1929 and up to 1964 or 1965.”

Mr Bellasario said the wedding certificate showed Mr Lane got married on October 28 1939 and there were rent books relating to 124 London Road and one for 12 Rainbow Hill.

Mr Bellasario said his family moved into their home in February and he did not believe the man who lived there before them was related to Mr Lane.

He said: “I think it dates back before that. I may have been there since the sixties.”

“It’s a box of memories.”

Also among the mementos are documents relating to the ambulance corp in the second world war and photographs of the couple playing cricket as well as a postcard-style picture of a woman called Edna.

Mr Bellasario wants to hear from anyone who remembers Mr Lane or his family.

He said: “With all this history and photographs there has to be someone around that might remember them?”
