THE search is on to find someone to help keep the popular Acorns Triple Run on the right track.

The fund-raising event returns to the Three Counties Showground in Malvern on Sunday, June 22 and the charity is looking for a new chairman for the organising committee after Chris Price stepped down from the post last year.

Mr Price has helped raise about £300,000 since the series of races was first held in 2006 and the role involves directing the organising committee to ensure the event is a success.

He said: “I enjoyed the role thoroughly. It was great watching people enjoying themselves at events and raising money for Acorns.

“To be a good chairman you need to the ability to guide people but the great committee members made my job easier as they have a range of skills.

"You need the ability to persuade organisations to support the Triple Run but I found that once you mention Acorns they were keen to sign up.”

Acorns’ events manager, Laura Heathfield, said: “Chris’ contribution in chairing the committee for the past eight years has been invaluable and we are very grateful for his hard work.

"Now we are looking to the future and hope to find a successor who can build on Chris’ achievements."

The three courses - a 1km fun run, a 5km woodland trail and the Malvern Half Marathon - are designed to appeal to all ages, levels of fitness and sporting ability.

All the races start together and more than 10,000 people have taken part in the past eight years.
