I want to build on my ideal new job

AN unemployed Malvern man says he is delighted to have found work on a town housing scheme.
Andrew Harper approached bosses working on a new development at Orford Way to see if they needed any help.
The labourer, who is a Festival Housing tenant at Poundbrook Road, couldn’t believe his luck when building contractor Saxonby offered him a role as a machine driver and skilled labourer.
Mr Harper never claimed benefits while looking for work.
“I noticed the building going on near my home and came to the site to ask for work,” said the 34-year-old, who has three young children.
“I am over the moon with the opportunities given me to be in employment and broaden my skills. I would like to continue to work for Saxonby in the future and progress through the company.”
He has now passed a machine operator course and because he is showing such potential he has also been sent on a site supervisor safety training course.
James Wood, a director at Saxonby, said he was pleased to give Mr Harper work and training.
“We have not only given him a job but have also bought him a couple of hundred pounds worth of tools to get him going,” he said.
