A MALVERN man who left 48 voicemail messages at his expartner’s workplace has been given a two-year restraining order.

Guy Matthews, of the Hollies, Worcester Road, appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court where he pleaded guilty to the charge of harassing Kathryn Fuller between Wednesday, May 1, and Tuesday, November 12.

Prosecutor Fred Pilkington told the court she had changed her mobile phone number after he continued to call her so he began to call her work and leave messages.

“The content of the messages were mostly asking for her to call him back,” he said. “Some of them were threatening.

“She has had enough of it – it’s affecting her work.

“She has had to explain to her boss about it, which is very embarrassing for her.”

Judith Kenney, mitigating, said the 37-year-old had found the break-up of the relationship to be very difficult and had used alcohol as a coping mechanism.

He was handed a 12-month community order including a requirement to attend alcohol sessions and a domestic abuse workshop as well as two-year restraining order.

Fuller was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
