A DRIVER stole more than £2,000 of products he was supposed to deliver to Boots and sold them on eBay.

Stuart Green was employed by Alliance Healthcare when he took the items between March 2010 and July 2013.

Worcester Magistrates Court was told Green was in charge of delivering products to various Boots stores throughout the county.

The 40-year-old, of Medway Road, Ronkswood, Worc-ester, pleaded guilty to theft.

Peter Love, prosecuting, said: “The employer carries out regular checks of eBay to see if employees are selling products that the person delivers.

“In May 2013, it was established that there was an eBay account held locally by Mr Green and it was apparent that a number of items sold by Boots were being sold.”

Green was called in to a meeting during which he admitted what he had done.

He said he had been doing it for 18 months and had taken various products totalling around £2,000. His house was searched by police who found baby wipes and various toiletries. When he was subsequently interviewed by police, he said he had sold about 100 items.

Mr Love said the total loss to the company was found to be £2,379, but it was noted that this was the wholesale prices and that the loss to Boots would have been much higher.

Gerry Vahey, in mitigation, said the crime as so “amateurish”, Green was bound to eventually be caught.

Chairman of the bench Nicola Phillips sentenced him to a 12-month community order with 200 hours of unpaid work, as well as ordering to pay £2,379 in compensation, £85 in court costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
