THE new chairman of Hanley and District Royal British Legion Club is urging people to come along and enjoy its facilities.

Michael Soley, who lives in Oakfield Road, Malvern Link, said: “We run the annual Poppy Appeal and gain money to give to ex servicemen and women who have been in the armed services and fought for our benefit.

“We are always looking for new members and would welcome you to join us.

“You do not need to be an ex-serviceman or women to join us.”

He said the club, located in Park Lane, Coverfields, Hanley Swan, has plenty to offer everyone.

“We hold a dance with live singers every other friday night with a buffet supper, and we also run ladies and mens skittles, darts teams and whist drives,” Mr Soley said.

Money raised by holding raffles at the club goes to charities such as the Midlands Air Ambulance, Acorns Children’s Hospice and Armed Forces charities.
