A LIFESAVING charity is calling for help training a new generation of first aiders.

St John Ambulance needs more volunteers aged over 18 to help lead its youth unit in Malvern.

Youngsters meet weekly to work towards qualifications and enjoy social activities.

Carolyn Zivoder, St John Ambulance’s regional youth co-ordinator for the West Midlands, said the role would suit anyone seeking experience working with young people or in a community setting.

Full training is provided.

“Youth leaders play a crucial part in the development of our younger volunteers by broadening their horizons and helping them to realise their potential,” she said.

“Learning first aid improves self-esteem, develops confidence and fosters a sense of belonging and service in young people. Becoming an adult leader will help support our young volunteers and provide more people with the life saving skills they need to be the difference between life and death.”
