A MALVERN actress has continued the tradition of great British comedy after teaming up with a London-based production company to create, film and release an innovative internet-sitcom.

Former Chase School pupil Leila Sykes is “over the moon” to see Missing Something go live online after it was put together in conjunction with production outfit Brother Brother.

The 25-year-old created the project and joined forces with co-writer Tom Crawshaw to develop the full series, which included a pilot episode, sneak-peak trailers and 12 scripts that were filmed in May.

She stars as a country girl who battles with the trials and tribulations of the capital while experiencing a quarter-life crisis alongside larger-than-life characters.

“It’s been such a long process from conception to release. It’s down to the hard work of so many talented people that this has happened. It’s amazing they all believed in this story of a 20-something small-town-girl-turned-Londoner, by this 20-something Malvern-girl-turned-Londoner enough to make it a reality.” Each episode is a bite-sized three minutes and Leila is nervously excited about them being released.

Leila hopes for word of mouth, with viewers getting involved and then sharing it on the internet.

The episodes find Leila’s character attempting to come to terms with a world of pretentious media agencies, self-absorbed artists, oversexed-flatmates and very petty crooks.

She says it looks at a “forgotten generation. A generation who came out of uni during a recession.

Missing Something is a multi-platform web series with related content on various platforms and social media sites. The young cast also includes Malvern Theatres regular Lee Drage, who appeared in a West End run of Chariots of Fire and Royal Shakespeare Company actor Michael Grady-Hall.
