A FORMER soldier has raised £1,026 by completing a gruelling 15-kilometre challenge in the Brecon Beacons, carrying a 40kg fireman’s dummy. Paul Morton, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, carried the training dummy, nicknamed ‘Derek’, over the 24km Fan Dance course, which includes the peak of Pen y Fan, the highest mountain in south Wales, in five hours, 55 minutes. The run is is used as part of the selection process for the famous SAS Regiment, and Mr Morton, of Cowleigh Bank, North Malvern, undertook the challenge to raise money for forces’ charity A Soldier’s Journey.
