A TERRIFIED man ran for his life after being chased by two knife-wielding men.

The surprise chase happened on a midweek night as the man walked in Malvern Link.

The 23-year-old fled to the safety of a friend’s house where he rang the police for help. Police scoured the area but could not find the men.

The men, clad in dark hats and clothes, got out of a car parked in Spring Lane and without warning chased after the shocked pedestrian just after 11.30pm on Wednesday night.

A police spokesman said the man heard a car door being opened just after he had walked past the parked vehicle.

“He looked back and saw two black males with knives – possibly kitchen knives – and wearing dark leather clothing and black hats, start to chase after him,” she said.

“They did not speak to him, make demands or threats, nor did they brandish the knives in any way.”

News of the incident sparked concerns on social network Twitter with people being warned not to walk alone.

Connie Horgan wrote: “Don’t walk anywhere alone tonight peeps. My friends just been chased by two dudes with a knife in malvern link”, whil AME said “no one walk alone please!” and Daniel Son wrote “Malvern tryna be the new ghetto of England.”

Malvern Link district councillor Mike Soley branded news of the incident as “frightening and worrying”.

“We need to find out what happened,” he said. “It is worrying to hear about something like that going on anywhere but especially in somewhere like Malvern.”

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who knows the identity of the two men to call police on 101 quoting incident number 0702s/041213 or phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
